A classic you can never go wrong with. With strawberries available these days this was a cake I was looking forward to putting together. Layers of pan di spagna (an Italian extra light and frothy cake), sliced fresh strawberries, homemade strawberry jam and pastry cream, all wrapped together in whipped cream and toasted sliced almonds. Hard to imagine a dessert can be this good even without the chocolate. Yet it’s superb! One of the rare occasions I don’t mind the lack of chocolate.  And a rare occasion I put my piping to work!
